Devon Winey, Senior Associate
With eight years of experience at Mt. Auburn Associates, Devon has developed
expertise in a number of areas of economic development including workforce
development, sector analysis, economic development strategy, organizational
design, and evaluation. Recent projects have included multi-year evaluations
of sector-based workforce development initiatives in Boston, MA and
Hartford, CT; an evaluation of a successful nonprofit’s national replication
strategy; an evaluation of a Massachusetts quasi-public’s technology
innovation investment strategy; strategy development for Connecticut’s
one-stop system; a strategic and organizational plan for a Maine-based
community development corporation; and a strategic plan for the city of Fall
River, Massachusetts.
Devon’s strategic planning and organizational
design experience comes not only from her work at Mt. Auburn Associates, but
also from her previous work at international strategic consulting firms.
Devon previously worked at Monitor Company, a global strategic management
consulting firm. While at Monitor, Devon consulted primarily to life science
clients (pharmaceutical and medical products) on operational and marketing
strategies. Devon also played a leadership role in Monitor’s internal human
asset management overseeing allocations and professional development of
senior consultants as well as working closely with the Monitor’s CEO on an
organizational redesign. From 1990 to 1992, Devon worked as a research
associate at Klein & Co., a consulting firm serving nonprofit clients,
primarily international labor unions on organizational redesign and
strategic planning. Devon’s clients included the International Ladies
Garment Workers Union, Communication Workers of America, United Brotherhood
of Carpenters, and the Great Britain’s Transport and General Workers Union.
Devon holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A., magna cum
laude, in Economics and Political Science from Wellesley College.
