Mt. Auburn Associates has undertaken a number of projects that examine the technology development and commercialization process.  Many of these projects have involved working directly with colleges and universities.  Several projects have looked at state and local strategies to promote university spin-off activity.

Evaluation of Ohio’s Thomas Edison Technology Centers.  Mt. Auburn completed an in-depth evaluation of the eight Thomas Edison advanced technology centers supported by the Ohio Department of Development in order to ascertain their effectiveness in increasing the competitiveness of Ohio manufacturers.  The firm examined the effect of various forms and structures of technology transfer, for example, cooperative research, inter-firm learning, problem-based assistance, demonstration centers, on-line information systems, and abstracts.
